The people of the city of Chicago are given an excuse to drink and eat hot dogs by the Cubs. This season isn't that different from other seasons. They are nine games out of the last wild card spot and 10 games back of the division leaders.
It's another run out the clock situation, where fans only have milestones to celebrate while hoping they don't lose.
It's about the second part.
Matt Swarmer, who has been in the bigs less than two weeks, didn't have a good time in the Bronx on Saturday when the Yankees lost to Judge and the rest of the team. Judge hit two solo shots against Swarmer, who allowed a record-tying six solo home runs total. His home run tied his own record for hardest hit baseball in the league.
It wasn't the only thing that Swarmer got trolled by.
David Ross caught a dog.
And so did the Cubs fan who runs the team's account on social media.
The franchise record for homers allowed was set by Swarmer, who allowed six in one outing. He shouldn't be sad. Half of those nightmare starts came this century, and there are 23 other pitchers who have allowed at least five home runs in a contest over the course of the last three years.
It came on a nice Saturday in Chicago, Matt. Everyone had enough cased meats and beer and forgot the Cubs were in New York.
Judge has a league lead of 24 and is on pace for over 800 this year. I think he'll cool off. The Chicago Cubs and David Ross hosted a weekend of baseball at Yankee Stadium.
Steven Stamkos scored both of his goals in the series-clinching win over the New York Rangers on Saturday to send his team back to the Stanley Cup finals. In the third period, New York tied the game at 13 with a hooking call on Stamkos, but that was the last time the two teams would meet. With a little help from his left leg, the Lightning forward was able to score on the New York goalie.
The goal was upheld by the refs as the puck popped out of Shesterkin's glove, off Stamkos' leg, and into the net to give the Rangers a goal.
Do you think Stamkos should have been out there? The Zapruder film of him spitting on Lafreniere at the end of a fight in Game 5 was not good enough for the league office to make a statement.
The two teams are set to face off in the Stanley Cup finals on Wednesday and Colorado is in a tough spot.
