There is a mixture of things in the car. A station wagon, a sports car, an outrageously expensive luxury vehicle, and an electric car are all in one.

It may sound too much, but it is. The Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo is over the top in terms of price, power, and speed. You're left with something amazing if you wrap all of these together.

I received a top-of-the-line car for a weekend last month. Adding to its appeal is that it's also totally reachable.

What is the Taycan Turbo S Cross Turismo?

The Taycan sedan is the first electric car fromPorsche and it has since introduced a number of additional trim levels and variations. The Cross Turismo is an all-wheel-drive wagon that is meant to provide a bit more interior space.

The base model, the more powerful 4S, and the even quicker Turbo are the only other trims available.

It's the kind of car that makes you wonder if you should become an investment banker. I don't know if I need to own a home. Someone doesn't need a retirement fund anyways.

What stands out: Outrageously cool, impossibly fast

The standard for handling precision and driving enjoyment has been set for decades. I now understand why.

On New York's highways and back roads, the Taycan stayed flat and composed, unlike any other car I've seen. If you point the wagon to the left or right, it will oblige. The Taycan feels like a go-kart because of its agility.

616hp normally and up to 750hp in short bursts is the amount of power. The Taycan can deliver its grunt at a moment's notice. It's a great feeling to drive.

If you haven't experienced it before, find a safe spot to stomp the wagon's pedals and it will barrel into the distance with an urgentness that's hard to imagine if you haven't experienced it before. 60 mph arrives in less than three minutes. Your surroundings start whipping by faster than you can think of.

Everything in the cabin is of the highest quality. The Cross Turismo is stunningly beautiful. It is low and wide with large wheels. Come on, just look at it.

You can refill the Taycan's battery quickly after draining it. 5% to 80% can happen in just 22 minutes with the wagon and sedan sibling's 270 kilowatts charge rate. It would take more than twice as long if it were an electric vehicle.

TheTurbo S's range looks mediocre on paper, but it's much better in the real world. I observed a more competitive 250 miles of range, andEdmunds had a 2020 Taycan that was even healthier.

What falls short: Practicality, in some ways

Thanks to its larger cargo area and standard glass roof, the Cross Turismo is more practical than the Taycan sedan. The back seat isn't palatial, but it's roomier than you might think, thanks to the clever design of the battery pack. Storage space is provided by a front trunk.

The Cross Turismo isn't as good as it could be.

The increased ground clearance of the Cross Turismo makes it better suited for unpaved roads than the regular Taycan. The wagon is a bit higher than the sedan. I was well aware of how close the Cross Turismo was to the ground.

Does this affect the greatness of theCross Turismo? Nope, that's right.

An electric dream car

Last year, the Taycan was the top selling car. 5% of the model's sales is made up of the Cross Turismo.

If money is no object, it's a great daily driver because it doesn't use fossil fuels and has room for the kids.

Is it possible that I would end my life just to afford a video game? It's not a chance. It is at the top of my list if I ever hit it big on Doge coin.
