Ninkovich calls out Scott for predicting Pats will finish last in AFC East (2:28)

Rob takes issue with Bart Scott's idea that the Jets will play the Pats for last place. There is a time and a place for it.

6:00 AM ET

The New York Jets are located in New Jersey.

This is the first thing. The quarterbacks are the same and the room is different.

After last season's unusual dynamic, which was described as too many cooks in the kitchen, the Jets are back to a traditional coaching setup. Rob Calabrese and Mike LaFleur are his position coaches. Wilson's personal coach who was hired at the beginning of the year, John Beck, is no longer with us.

The holdovers prefer the current way of doing things because they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

"I like the way the communication has been, it has been more direct, and there's a lot more conviction in what's being coached," Robert said.

LaFleur said it had been good to have just the two voices.

Calabrese said that there will be a concise message. We make sure everyone is on the same page by using Mike LaFleur.

It got crowded because of tragedy, unusual circumstances, and sheer desperation. The Jets replaced the man who died from injuries he received when he was hit by a car while biking with a new hire. He had a lot of experience and it was appealing. Beck was added by the Jets because they were worried about Wilson's poor start.

Beck said it was great to have someone in the building who was always there for him. He was able to give a feeling about how he was feeling going into the experience. He didn't have to think that it was someone who would pass judgement or someone who would be critical because they were comparing him to other quarterbacks.

Boomer Esiason wasn't a fan of the four-headed coach.

It's hard for me to say what would've made him comfortable last year, but I know this: when you have too many people talking to you, it tends to be a little more. This whole thing was dialled back. He should be handled by his coach and his offensive coordinators should call the plays.

"LaCalcaveck" did some good things despite Wilson showing modest improvement late in the season. Wilson's success depends on his ability to click with LaFleur and Calabrese.

There are two He is making his mark by streamlining and placing a lot of faith in Calabrese. The coach was close to leaving in February. One of Calabrese's mentors, Rich Scangarello, was hired by the University of Kentucky after Calabrese was a finalist for the position.

Calabrese wants to leave his footprint on the Jets and he's glad the way it worked out. Esiason was raised in East Islip.

Calabrese explained that he was from Boomer's hometown and had no choice.

Calabrese did not want to abandon Wilson in Year 2 because he saw the potential he had.

When Rob was a football player, Esiason said, he was one tough SOB. I hope he gets that part of him, because that is how Rob was. He was a hard worker.

There are three. There is a mini camp on Tuesday and Wednesday. It is mandatory to attend mini camp. The tackle, who didn't participate in the voluntary work, is expected to show up. The organization will be looking at him for the first time since the end of the season on Monday. He won't practice.

There are four. Is this a prediction? The Stanley Cup was in town for the NHL Eastern Conference finals and the Jets received it at practice. That made someone think.

The New York Rangers won the Cup for the first time in 23 years in 1994. The Jets haven't played in a Super Bowl in a long time. 53 years.

There are five. Ryan Fitzpatrick's last season with the Jets was the lowest point in his career, but it wasn't all bad. The team's only top 10 offense in the past 23 years was overseen by him. Their last winning season was last year.

There are six. Even though he was the leading receiver in each of the past three seasons, everyone assumed he was a goner and that's why he left. The slot position was where he excelled. Who is going to take over that job?

The contract year for Montgomery is next year.

"I'm working through it," he said.

The leaders in the slot were based on the number of pass routes they ran. The leaders are based on the number of catches made by them.

It seems like it will be a committee approach, since Berrios signed a two-year, $12 million deal. You would expect a coach to say after losing his leading receiver that he likes the idea of rotating players. They have options with Berrios, Moore and Wilson, who played at Ohio State.

Don't sleep on Berrios, he's a good candidate for a playing time increase.

He said that he was called on a lot in the last few games of the year. My job was to execute and I think I did it well. Consistency is what I pride myself on.

There are seven. It's hard to believe, but Nathan Shepherd is the longest tenured draft pick on the team. He is well-respected because of his work ethic and loyalty.

He turned down a better offer to return to the Jets on a one-year, $1.1 million contract. He could've made more money somewhere else. We're not talking about money from one person. People in the organization were amazed by his decision.

With Folorunso Fatukasi gone, Shepherd is now the Jets' biggest defensive lineman and could become a first- and second-down run defender. He's getting some time on the field.

There are eight. Davis said of the first-round pick, "He's special." dude is very special He has crazy hands and is always focused. His separation is mind blowing. I'm happy that we have that guy.

There are nine. According to Over the Cap, the Jets still have $10 million in cap room, which means they are still open for business. They still need some help.

There are ten. I think this team can change the culture for the next decade. A lot of guys on this team and a lot of coaches that are coaching for this team have not heard a lot of good things about the Jets. We have the ability to change that mindset now that we have the narrative.
