Users of former President Donald Trump's Truth Social claimed they had been banned from the platform after posting about the committee hearings.

He claimed on Friday that he had been permanently suspended for talking about the hearings.

The claims could not be verified by Insider. Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns and runs Truth Social, did not respond immediately.

Variety reported that the site's central promise to be a free speech platform had been broken.

Truth Social has gained a reputation for banning users for a variety of reasons.

The site's terms of service state that they have the right to deny access to any person for any reason or for no reason.

It requires users who sign up to agree to not tarnish or harm the site in any way.

While in office, Trump tried to challenge the legality of social media platforms' ability to moderate content.

Trump was banned from social media for two years after the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

The platform was plagued with technical issues from the beginning.

Many users reported similar issues on Truth Social on Friday, with many posting pictures of a "network failed" message when attempting to use the site.

The former president took to the platform on Thursday and Friday to respond to the January 6 committee hearing.
