Steven Stamkos answered the Rangers' goal with one of his own, as the Lightning took a 2-1 lead. It was 0:49

The Colorado Avalanche are resting and ready for the start of the Stanley Cup Final after being eliminated by the New York Rangers in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Here are five things we've learned about the Lightning so far in their playoff run.

The three-peat is in reach

The New York Islanders ended the NHL's dynasty in 1983 by winning the Stanley Cup. Six other teams have won the Stanley Cup. The Lightning won the East this season, and so did five of them.

You don't get a lot of chances like that. They do not show up. We have seen the top of the mountain. Jon Cooper told them to keep going for more.

The Colorado Avs are trying to break through to win their first Cup since 2001 after a few years as a top contender, while the Lightning are just four wins away from an unprecedented achievement in the NHL's salary- cap era.

(Mostly) old faces, same success

The core of the team that won back-to-back Cups is the same as the one that faced the Avs.

There are two teams in the Stanley Cup final. All seven games can be watched on ABC, Disney+, and the app.

The first game is on June 15th.

It's possible that it's necessary.

The stars make up the power of the bay.

  • Steven Stamkos is the team captain and he has Affirmed career Goals.

  • The leading scorer in the playoffs is Nikita Kucherov.

  • Point has scored more goals in the playoffs than any other player in the past three years.

  • The NHL's top defenseman, Victor Hedman, has been nominated for six straight seasons for the NHL's most valuable player award.

  • Defenseman Ryan McDonagh has been around for a long time.

  • Vasilevskiy was the playoffs Most Valuable Player in 2021.

They're supported by a returning cast of characters that include Ondrej Palat, who scored two overtime-preventing, winning goals against the Rangers, and Alex Killorn, who is attempting to play on his fourth straight Cup winner.

This run is one of the most impressive. That the Lightning lost their entire checking line and some key role players from the past two Cup wins; replaced them with veterans and trade-deadline acquisitions.

The GM said they were looking for a fit. We're looking for guys that are proud and ambitious. When things aren't going well for you, the pride is going to drive you to push harder. Your continued success will be fueled by your ambition. You still want more.

Kucherov is elite

There are elite skaters who can take over a game. Among them, Kucherov is the leader. In 17 games, Kucherov has 23 points in 5-on-5 and the power play. Over the last three playoffs, no NHL player has scored more points than Kucherov. His ability to make plays and distribute the puck allow him to rack up points.

He sets the pace for the team. They notice when he is confident. The chatter on the bench can be heard when he leaves the ice. Stamkos said that the guys knew that their best player was on.

If the Lightning win a third straight Stanley Cup, it would be Nikita Kucherov's turn to win the trophy.

Can the Avs beat Vasilevskiy?

Juuse Saros did not have an injury. Binnington was hurt in the third game of the series. Mike Smith was the goalie for the edmonton olympians.

The Avs have a combined save percentage of.886 against the opposing goalies.

The Toronto Maple Leafs scored 22 goals in seven games against Vasilevskiy in the first round of the playoffs. He stopped 30 of 31 shots in the final game of the series. After a nine day break, Vasilevskiy has been absolutely dominant. Jon Cooper said he got his "mojo back" as the playoffs went on.

One of the greatest goalies in NHL history will be on the ice for the Avs. In 23 previous series-clinching games, Vasilevskiy had a 1.65 goals- against average and six whitewashes. His legacy could be solidified if he wins a third Stanley Cup.

It will stay there a long time when we look back. Killorn said it was cool to play with a player that would go down as one of the best. You gauge players by how they play in big-time games. He has been great in these games.

That championship adaptability

During their run to the Final, the Avs have been a team that can win easily, as long as they don't give up a goal. Both of them did the same thing against the Eskimos. Nathan MacKinnon said that the Avs can play with offensive flourish at home and then play boring and gross on the road to slow teams down.

The recipe the Lightning created in their past two championship seasons is being prepared by the Colorado team. The Avs lead the playoffs with 4.54 goals per game. Veteran players embody the patient composure needed to win a game by a single goal.

The Stanley Cup Final is expected to be a battle between the Colorado offense and the variety of ways the Lightning will attempt to defend it. Vasilevskiy is the core of the organization. They play close to 47 minutes a game between them. They have a checking line with Hagel, Cirelli and Killorn who dominated the Rangers at 5-on-5 and a group of forwards who pride themselves on defending.

Is it infectious? Does it? If you watch a guy block a shot, you have a chance to do it. It's not a good place to be if you don't want to do that. Guys get in line in that respect. For a long time, that has been the history with us. Our culture has built it into it.

An outstanding Stanley Cup Final should be made up of a championship culture.
