A woman from Nevada lost her bid to force a soccer player to pay her more money than she was paid after she accused him of raping her.
The case was thrown out of court in Las Vegas on Friday because of bad-faith conduct and the use of confidential documents by the woman's lawyer.
According to her order, dismissing a case with no option to file it again is a severe sanction, but she said that Stovall's conduct had hurt the man.
The procurement and continued use of these documents was bad faith, and disqualifying Stovall won't cure the prejudice toRonaldo because the misappropriated documents and their confidential contents have been woven into the very fabric of the case. There are merit to the sanctions.
Stovall didn't respond to calls or emails Saturday. Text messages to Drohobyczer were not responded to. The decision could be appealed to the 9th US Circuit Court of Appeals.
Peter Christiansen was not reachable for comment.
Stovall had acknowledged that Mayorga received money to quiet her.
Mayorga gave consent for Stovall and Drohobyczer to make her name public.
