The fact checker called out Republican leaders for resurrecting claims that President Donald Trump wasn't responsible for a no-show by the National Guard.
Some 10,000 members of the Guard were blocked by Pelosi. There is no authority over the National Guard in the District of Columbia. It's true, Trump does.
USA Today, The Washington Post, and CNN have all denied that Trump called out the Guard or that Pelosi blocked them from protecting the Capitol.
The National Guard and federal law enforcement were immediately deployed to secure the building after Trump bragged in a videotaped statement.
Republicans blamed Pelosi for blocking the Guard. The Georgia Republican blamed Schumer, who was Senate minority leader at the time, for the insurrection.
The president is in charge of the DC National Guard, with his authority delegated at the time to the Secretary of the Army. They can talk to Pelosi if they want to, but the Speaker of the House is not in a position to reject their activation decisions even if she wanted to.

During the first hearing of the new year, it was revealed that President Trump refused to tell the mob to leave the Capitol.
His Secretary of Defense was not contacted on January 6. He didn't speak to his attorney general. The Department of Homeland Security was not talked to by him. The president did not order the National Guard to deploy that day. He did not attempt to coordinate and deploy law enforcement assets.
Her statements were supported by video testimony from Gen. Mark Milley. He said that the Vice President demanded that the National Guard be called out because he was under attack.
In his testimony, Milley said that Pence told Pentagon leaders to get the Guard down here. The general received a call from the White House Chief of Staff who told him to stop saying that the vice president is making all the decisions.
The National Guard issue is likely to be brought up again by Republicans because of the lack of action by Trump to protect the Capitol.
