The Golden State Warriors assistant has agreed to become the new head coach of the Charlotte Hornets, according to sources.

James Borrego was fired in April after four seasons as the team's head coach.

The Hornets narrowed their search to two people. Both candidates met with Michael Jordan this week after meeting with management.

Two Golden State assistant coaches are set to leave the Warriors and take over new teams. Brown was hired by the Kings. Both are with Golden State through the end of the NBA Finals, with Golden State trailing in the best-of-seven series and Game 4 against the Celtics set for Friday night.

In three years with the Brooklyn Nets, he was 118-190 and resigned after an injury-plagued season. Before joining Steve Kerr's staff in Golden State, he was an assistant with the Los Angeles Clippers.
