According to multiple reports, a Texas judge issued a temporary restraining order on Friday blocking state investigations into the families of children who have received gender affirming care.
The judge made the ruling in response to a lawsuit brought by the American Civil Liberties Union.
The PFLAG group, which has more than 600 members, was also a part of the suit.
In February, Gov. Greg Abbott ordered state agencies to investigate the families of youth who had received gender-affirming care, medical procedures or therapy intended to promote their preferred gender.
Forbes asked Abbott's office about the judge's decision, but they didn't reply immediately.
The Texas Tribune reported that Texas has at least eight open investigations into the families of trans youth.
There were 29,800 people present. According to a study by the Williams Institute on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Law and Public Policy, between the ages of 13 and 17 there is an estimated number of trans people living in Texas.
The Human Rights Campaign says that new restrictions for trans people is a priority for Republican state lawmakers. Louisiana enacted a ban on trans athletes competing in girls sports after the governor refused to veto the legislation. The Republican-controlled House in Ohio passed a measure last week requiring a doctor to verify if an athlete has female genitalia. Republicans in New Jersey have proposed a bill that is not likely to pass the legislature.
Some Texas investigations into gender-affirming care for trans kids have been temporarily blocked by a judge.
