The end of the US's inbound Covid-testing requirements was applauded by travel companies in all sectors.

"British Airways is thrilled that our customers will be able to travel hassle-free to the 26 destinations we fly to in the U.S., without the need to take expensive and burdensome tests," said Sean Doyle, British Airways' CEO.

The testing requirement for re-entry was the top reason why Uniworld's U.S. customers wouldn't travel internationally, according to Ellen Bettridge.

The travel industry reacted to lifting of predeparture, Covid testing Princess Cruises and Holland American Line also hailed the decision.

John Padgett, president of Princess said, "This is a tremendous development that allows our guests to travel more easily and without stress throughout Europe as well as experience our Alaskan cruises that conclusion in a Canadian port."

His counterpart at Holland American said the same thing.

Travelers from the U.S. can go on Holland America Line voyages from homeports in Europe, Canada and Australia without fear of being turned away. Some guests wanted to avoid the uncertainty of return testing, so it removed a barrier to travel.

The decision was applauded by destinations around the world.

The lifting of the testing requirement for inbound international air travelers is good news for New York City's travel and tourism industry and will accelerate our continued recovery. International travel makes up 50 percent of spending in NYC. It takes four domestic visitors to equal the spending of one international visitor so easing the entry process means a stronger and faster recovery.
