United Hawaiian COVID Testing

The USA will end its controversial testing requirement for inbound U.S. flights on Sunday, ending a relic of the Pandemic era that made little sense in a nation with all known variant of the disease.

USA Drops COVID-19 International Travel Testing Requirement Effective June 12, 2022

The travel industry has been lobbying for a long time to get the pre-flight testing requirements dropped. All passengers travelling to the USA by air must submit a negative COVID-19 or proof of recovery before departure. The window for testing was reduced to a single day.

Despite testing centers popping up all over the world and the relative ease of testing, the requirement proved to be a deterrent to many travelers.

The COVID-19 testing requirement will be removed on June 12th, 2022.

According to a Biden Administration official, the CDC has decided that the requirement is no longer necessary at this time. The tests became useless with the virus and its many variations. Many of the tests were not effective. I am certain that I am not the only person who has been swabbed lightly and non-invasively for a test while abroad.

The CEO of United Airlines celebrated the news.

“Thank you to the administration for the announcement. This is another important step, not just for air travel, but also for all the tourism jobs that international travel supports. United Airlines has planned for this moment and will be the largest airline flying customers across the Atlantic Ocean this summer with approximately 25% more seats than we flew across the Atlantic pre-pandemic.”

CONCLUSION

The testing requirement for inbound flights to the USA will end. Pre-flight tests will no longer be required.

There are hundreds of testing centers around the world that cater to U.S. travelers. Many of those are small businesses that were started by people with good intentions. Good fortune comes from the fact that the testing lasted this long.
