Derby County's future is uncertain after Friday's 5pm deadline for Chris Kirchner to complete his deal passed with no sign of progress.

The deal to sell the club to the American businessman was expected to be completed 15 days later.

In case the deal collapses, Quantuma will re-open negotiations with other interested parties as a contingency.

If Kirchner's deal to buy the club doesn't go through, there is a chance that the club could go out of business.

Sky Sports News has been told that the separate consortiums behind Andy Appleby's and Steve Morgan's bids have lost some of their original investors and may not be able to resurrect their original offers.

It's thought that neither Appleby's nor Morgan's groups are currently involved in active negotiations.

Over the past eight months, the administrators have charged excessive fees that run into millions of pounds, and that's something MikeAshley is not happy about.

There is no communication between the two parties.

The joint administrators exchanged contracts with Mr. Kirchner in May 2022. There were a number of issues that needed to be solved.

Logistical issues mean that completion has not yet been completed. The administrators decided to engage with otherinterested parties as a contingency measure. The sale and purchase agreement with Mr Kirchner is still in place and he has until 5pm on 10 June 2022 to provide satisfactory evidence to the administrators that he is in a position to complete it.

Fans and stakeholders are worried about the lack of official communication. As there is commercial confidentiality which needs to be protected, it is not appropriate for us to discuss the current position further. All parties are willing to complete a deal as soon as possible.

The EFL released a statement detailing its disappointment at the lack of progress.

The administrators of Derby County have announced that the sale of the club to Chris Kirchner has fallen through.

It's important that this issue is solved quickly. The league will support the club as it tries to exit administration, as they hold discussions with third parties.
