The Walt Disney Company gained ground in the global streaming market as it launched Disney+ in 16 markets across the Middle East and North Africa. Last month, Disney+ launched in South Africa.

The company wants to have Disney+ in over 160 countries by the end of its fiscal year in three years. Disney+ announced the launch dates for 42 countries and territories in March of this year. On June 14th, the service will be launched in more countries.

June 8, 2022.

There is a variant version of the Disney+ Hotstar app for subscribers in India and South-East Asia. The service will have a different user interface and a different login system that uses a mobile number than in the U.S.

Tens of thousands of hours of Disney+ Hotstar content can be found in nine languages and includes live sports programming.

Thousands of films, shows and exclusive originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic will be available on Disney+ in the Middle East and North Africa. This includes films like "Obi-Wan Kenobi", "Moon Knight", "Only Murders in the Building" and more.

Up to four simultaneous streams, unlimited downloads on up to 10 devices and a maximum of seven user profiles will be available to subscribers.

Disney+ had 138.7 million subscribers in the second quarter, while Disney+ Hotstar had 50 million subscribers. The recent expansion puts the streamer in a good position to reach its goal of 260 million subscribers.

This wasn't the only news Disney shared. The company named Dana Walden as the new chairman. She will be reporting directly to the CEO. As a continuation of the high-level executive restructuring that has taken place at Disney, Peter Rice will be replaced by Walden. It won't be the case.
