Entry to the US will no longer require testing for COVID. You can expect it at this time.
With most travel related companies begging the Biden administration, CNN is now reporting that the administration will announce today that the testing requirement for entry to the US by air will be dropped.
As of Sunday night, the US won't require testing for passengers. We will see what that means. I think it's for flights that will be landing after midnight.
The administration is working with airlines to make the transition easy for travelers. Anyone leaving Sunday should take a test to make sure they don't have any problems. A notice from the CDC is going to be out in the next few days.
This is a big deal for travelers and airlines. Not only have they had to staff more for flights heading to the US to check these testing documents but they have also had to deal with travelers who tested positive before they left. Travelers were on the hook for huge fare differences due to the airlines dropping their flexibility.
Even more travelers will head out of the country this summer since they don't have to worry about the positive test anymore.
We don't know if foreigners will be allowed to enter the US without vaccinations. Many countries have stopped requiring it for entry since people who are getting the Covid variant are more likely to get the vaccine. It would be great to see it drop for the US.
