Several large companies, including Rocket Mortgage, ended their sponsorship of star golfers because of their defection from the PGA Tour to the controversial Saudi-funded LIV Golf series.

The company said in a statement to several outlets that it dropped DeChambeau because of its commitment to the tour.

The Royal Bank of Canada ended its sponsorship of two golf players after they were included in the field of a golf tournament in England.

Golfers wouldn't be able to participate in tournaments sponsored by Rocket Mortgage and Royal Bank of Canada, so they were pushed to act.

Phil Mickelson was dropped by several companies in February after he defended LIV Golf's financing despite the Saudi Arabian government's Human Rights record.

Callaway put its sponsorship on hold to be reexamined at a later time.

After Lee Westwood applied for a waivers to play in the first LIV Golf tournament, he lost his sponsor, according to Westwood and company.

Callaway is the only golf equipment manufacturer that has not spoken about their ties to LIV Golf players. Ian Poulter wore a Titleist hat, Johnson wore a TaylorMade hat, and Louis Oosthuizen wore a PING hat during the first day of the new golf tournament. Lefty wore a vest with the logo of the Augusta National Golf Club, the host of the Masters, despite not wearing a company logo.

LIV Golf is the first true competitor to the PGA Tour and it will be held this week. Thanks to seemingly unlimited funding, the new league was able to lure big names like Johnson and Mickelson with contracts worth over $100 million. The average purse on the PGA Tour is $9.1 million, but LIV Golf offers $25 million in prize money for each tournament. The PGA Tour suspended 17 golfers competing in the LIV Golf event and said they would also suspend any golfer who joined the other tour in the future. He said the ban made no sense and would appeal.

The Royal Bank of Canada stopped sponsoring golfers Johnson and McDowell after they decided to leave the PGA tour.
