The first hearing of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol will be held on July 27th, 2021.

A lot of the video and some of the witness testimony to be presented at the first hearing will be new.

Thompson told reporters by the House floor that they would show some never before seen video that they had uncovered.

Some people who have been charged, some people who have been convicted, and some people who pled guilty will be shown on video.

Thompson was asked if video testimony from Trump's family members would be included in the hearing.

He said that the hearing would be emotional for one witness, because she would be remembering how difficult it has been for her to recover.

Hours before the hearing, Ryan Kelley was arrested by the FBI on charges related to his involvement in the January riot.

The US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia confirmed that Kelley was arrested in Allendale, Mich.

Kelley is accused of knowingly entering a restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly conduct, engaging in physical violence against a person or property on restricted grounds, and willfully injuring U.S. property.

In a statement of facts, an FBI special agent said that Kelley was in a crowd of people outside the U.S. Capitol in January of 2021.

Kelley has previously stated that he was in Washington on the day of the riot, but never got to the Capitol.

A message to Kelley's campaign was not immediately responded to.

New information may come from a variety of sources. Two witnesses are going to speak at the hearing. Prior witness interviews will be shared by the panel.

According to aides who briefed reporters ahead of the hearing, Bennie Thompson wants to show the significance of the riot in U.S. history. Over the next few weeks, the committee will be previewing what to expect.

The aides said that the hearings represent the initial findings of the committee, and that the investigation is still going on.

The final report may arrive by the fall according to Thompson.

According to the aide, the witnesses will recount what they saw and heard during the invasion.

Senior Trump administration officials, campaign aides and family members of the former Republican president will be presented previously unseen records and tape from previous witness interviews.

The aide said that the witnesses would tell the story. The facts will speak for themselves as we explain them.
