The Los Angeles Rams have made it clear that they want to take care of their players.
The team made wide receiver Cooper Kupp one of the highest-paid players in the league on Wednesday, after they reworked the contract of star defensive tackle Donald. Both players were given more security and a reward after they helped the Rams win the Super Bowl.
Both the player and the negotiation were never controversial. Both trusts the Rams to take care of them.
We can trust that the organization is going to take care of you. They'll be able to step in. That stuff is going to work itself out and there will be respect there. We have a lot of guys who take the right approach to being the best version of themselves first and let the business side of things work themselves out.
He has a lot of respect for how the organization is run.
"Not to say that things are perfect, but we've got guys that have a respect for their players, and I think that's great." Sometimes it doesn't work out that way. I understand that there are certain things that happen in this league.
It won't always work out that way, but I think as a player, you get to go out there and handle your business on the field and be rewarded for what you've done. I'm grateful for that.
Matthew Stafford, Donald and Kupp were extended by the Rams for an average of more than 25 million dollars per year. The Rams have kept their core together to compete for another Superbowl.
"It's clear the organization has put itself and all of its players in a position to be able to go out and achieve that," Kupp said. "That's something that certainly we do not take that lightly and we're grateful to have that backing from the higher-ups here in this organization and the willingness to challenge and push and be creative and find ways to win games."
During the regular season last year, Kupp led the league with over 1,700 yards and 16 touchdown catches. He was named the game's Most Valuable Player after catching two touchdown passes. He led the league in reception, receiving yards and receiving touchdown.
Kupp wore Stafford's jersey when he signed the extension. As a nod to how important his quarterback was, Kupp did that.
Kupp thought it was cool. He was able to extend my career here in Los Angeles by signing that contract, because he had a hand in being able to be in this place in the first place. There's a nod to Matthew Stafford in that way.
