While his net worth was recently valuated by Forbes, it has been known for a long time that he plans to own an NBA team when he is done playing.

The vision has a place.

In the newest episode of his talk show, "The Shop," James said he wanted a team in Vegas. The team should be in Vegas.

James said last season that his goal is to own an NBA team and it will be sooner than later.

James will enter his 20th NBA season in the fall when the Lakers open training camp. He would have to be finished playing before he could purchase a team and he would have to figure out an ownership group to help in the bid.

The league needs to expand to Las Vegas. There are no plans for expansion beyond the league's 30 teams according to NBA commissioner Adam Silver.

At this time, we are not talking about that. At some point, this league will inevitably expand, but it's not currently being discussed.

Silver endorsed both Las Vegas and Seattle as potential expansion locations.

Silver said those markets are wonderful. They were in Seattle. We're no longer there. In Seattle, we have a new building that is doing amazing. Las Vegas, where we will be at our summer league in July, has shown itself to be a great place to play sports.
