In a February 2021 interview on the radio station WBEN in Buffalo, New York, Carl Paladino praised Hitler and said he was the kind of leader we needed.

The leading GOP figure in New York state who was the party's gubernatorial nominee in 2010 is running for the Republican nomination to replace the retiring Rep. Chris Jacobs.

After Jacobs announced his retirement, the chair of the House Republican Conference endorsed Carl Paladino. Jacobs became a target of conservatives after endorsing limited gun control measures.

A request for comment on the remarks was not responded to.

The pro-Hitler comments were made on The r-House Radio Show by a real estate company executive.

Hunt said that any person who doesn't voice their opinion or see it as pointless. How do you get people to come out? What can you do to get people to think about the possibility of change in New York state?

As he said the Nazi dictator's name, he chucked a little bit as he said, "I was thinking the other day about someone who had mentioned on the radio how he aroused the crowds." The people were hypnotized by him. That is the kind of leader we need right now. Someone inspiring is what we need.

Hitler died at the end of World War II. Between 75 and 80 million people died as a result of the war he started for global domination. Six million Jews were murdered in the Holocaust and the attempted genocide of Jewish people by Hitler.

This isn't the first time that Paladino has been in trouble. He said in an interview that he would like to see the president die from mad cow disease and the first lady return to being a female and live in a cave with a gorilla. The comments led to the removal of Paladino from the school board.

The campaign did not reply to the request for comment.
