Air Force One may have been turned into a flying oven by Donald Trump. According to new reports, the Air Force One paint job could lead to hot temperatures on the plane and cost Boeing.
The U.S. Air Force said Trump's call for dark blue paint covering the underside of the in development Boeing VC 25B jets could have led to "excessive temperatures" onboard which Boeing would have to pay to fix. Trump wanted Air Force One to have a more restrained red, white, and dark blue color scheme. The current jet has a mixture of white and sky blue colors.
According to sources, Trump's dark blue coloring could force Boeing to make expensive modifications to cool key components, inflating the plane's already engorged price tag. In an interview with George Stephanopoulos, Trump said that he designed the new layout himself.
Trump said during a Fox & Friends interview that it would look better. The idea of red, white, and blue is appealing to me.
A source told Politco that President Joe Biden will make a decision soon on whether or not to use Trump's paint job for Air Force One models currently in production.
