English TV personality Simon Cowell, best known as a judge on "American Idol," was shocked to see a performer with his own face singing on a recent episode of "America's Got Talent."

The performance was put on by a company called Metaphysic Media, which created a deep fake of the "America's Got Talent" judge's face and superimposed it on a live opera singer.

"When they asked me to be a part of this wonderful, unique, original thing they're going to do, I couldn't say no," he said.

It may not be the most realistic-looking of deepfakes we've seen, but rendering it on the fly during a broadcast is pretty impressive, and even though it isn't the most realistic-looking of deepfakes we've seen, it's still pretty impressive

You're the Inspiration

The screen behind him on stage looked like Simon was singing instead of the over-the-top version of "You're the Inspiration" that he was singing.

After the performance, he wrote himself a letter.

He asked if it was appropriate to fall in love with a contestant. I know it's weird, but I love you Daniel.

It is a fun use of the technology that shows off the potential of applying deepfakes to the world of entertainment.

Some public figures don't like having their faces ripped off during a national broadcast.

Is there such a thing as a perfect contestant, a great singer, who looks incredible? They just found them.

Simon is in love with the perfect contest on AGT.
