"Top Gun: Maverick's" continues to dominate at the box office despite poor reviews of "Jurassic World: Dominion" this weekend.

"Dominion" is still expected to top the box office this weekend, but expectations have been lowered after it received a poor review.

It was described as one of the worst big-budget Hollywood blockbusters since the first "Jurassic World."

The "Dominion" is expected to open below the first two "Jurassic World" movies. "Jurassic World" and "Fallen Kingdom" both made over $150 million in the US in their first weekends.

Shawn Robbins, the Box Office Pro chief analyst, lowered his predictions for the movie's opening weekend from as much as $210 million last week to as much as $167 million as of Wednesday.

"Dominion" will enter a competitive market, with 'Maverick' expected to continue holding strong with the aforementioned over 35 crowd," Robbins wrote.

After opening to a record $160 million over the Memorial Day holiday, "Maverick" earned $90 million last weekend. Robbins is expecting it to take another $57 million at the US box office.

"Maverick" received an A+ grade from CinemaScore on its opening night and has been riding off of strong word of mouth.

"Dominion" will not flop because of this. The movie has made over 50 million dollars in international markets. The two previous predecessors both made over $1 billion.

The overseas openings we've seen so far suggest we may be in for another billion grosser worldwide even if it doesn't do well in the US.

It's possible that the China market could break its $1 billion chance.

There were two movies that made $228 million and $261 million. "Dominion" will open in China this weekend, but Hollywood movies haven't been performing at pre-pandemic levels in the market because of a mix of shifting consumer interests, Chinese productions becoming more of a focus for the local film administration, and, more recently, the
