The XFL's first group of assistant coach hires is headed by the former head coach of the National Football League.
Williams will work for Reggie Barlow. The former head coach of the Buffalo Bills and Cleveland Browns who served a one-year suspension in 2012 for his role in the New Orleans Saints'Bountygate Scandal, Williams last coached with the New York Jets in 2020.
The XFL is still working through negotiations with local markets. The company hired a total of seven defensive and seven offensive coordinators. The XFL had two of its offensive coordinators serve as head coaches. Former college head coach and NFL assistant Ron Zook is one of the notable names on the coaching staff.
Directors of player personnel for each team were also included in the announcement. The directors will work with the head coaches on final team personnel decisions. The final decision on game day rosters will be made by the coaches.
The XFL had four directors work with it in 2020. Player showcases will be hosted by the XFL. The regular season will start on February 18, 2023.
