Oklahoma smashes 6 homers in blowout win vs. Texas (3:03)

The Sooners hit six home runs and defeated Texas 16-1. There is a time and a place for it.

2:52 AM ET

The door opened and a group of players and their head coach walked through it.

The pitcher sat between her teammates and tried to explain what happened. A warrior in the circle who helped carry her team to the biggest stage with an impressive force of will, she couldn't find the right words. In the opening game of the Women's College World Series, Oklahoma broke the Women's College World Series record for home runs in a game with six in a 16-1 victory.

Mary Iakopo thought it was fairly easy.

She said that they're really great.

All Mike White could do was shake his head as the players left the room. White explained his own things. He said it was difficult to compete against an Oklahoma team that won it all last season.

Against a lineup like that.

White said it was like an explosion. It's hard to stop it once it starts going.

The two-run home run by Alo in the first might have saved them. She is the home run queen with 122 career trips to the bases. It's true. The chain of events she started was too much to overcome.

It was similar to what Oklahoma coach Gasso said. She said that Alo's home runs are hard to understand on a stat sheet.

She can change the outcome of the game in a single swing. It goes a long way when the ball is hit out. It's so hard to get momentum into your bench. The game is changed by her presence. Everything changes in a split second when there is contact.

We're ahead if we were behind. We are up by three if there wasn't a score. It happens in a single swing.

It was just Alo one time. Then it was the other way around. Then it was someone else. Then it was someone else. The casual observer couldn't help but wonder if this is the best college softball team of all time.

Everyone is fond of Alo. She has hit at least one home run in each of the last five years. She drove in a record 13 runs. Fans sat back down in their seats after they backed off the net surrounding home plate and tried to record history on their phones.

She hit a three-run bomb after Alo's first home run.

After Alo's second home run, two pitches were thrown by the pitcher.

She reminded everyone that she has some juice of her own after tying Alo's records for home runs and runs in a game.

Alo said that they are the best power-hitting duo of all time.

Who is going to disagree with that? Alo is the leader in home runs this year. The difference in the amount of money is 86-87.

Someone else would be if that weren't the case. Grace Lyons and Jayda Coleman are also All-Americans. Gasso doesn't think people talk about what a good leadoff hitter is. She has an on- base percentage of.589. Gasso said, "That's made them that dynamic duo."

Grace Green is not well known in the game. She has only 28 at-bats this season and is not a starter. She came off the bench and scored in the fourth.

It's difficult to get into this lineup. I have a lot of good players, but I don't know where to give them food.

It's a good question. Next year is always there.

There's Thursday night's re-enactment. The Sooners will get back-to-back national titles if they win. There will be a winner-take-all game on Friday.

They need to flush Game 1. Allow it to leave. Don't worry, move on.

It is more difficult than done. A 15-run loss to an archrival is a big deal.

White said that they were going to put up some numbers. We need to find a way to get seven. It's the way it is.

Is seven runs sufficient?

Oklahoma leads the division in batting average and home runs. It's a team that hasn't lost a game all season. The run rule has helped it win 40 of its 58 games. They did not have a run rule in the championship series.

You might get lucky and Alo hits a home run. Is it possible to stop the man? Will you be able to stop Lyons and Coleman? The moles have metal bats.

They are great.

Hope not to get in the way is the best thing you can do when they are coming for you.
