Andy Jassy said that Jeff Bezos is focused on Amazon even though he stepped down as CEO.
He was the CEO when he became one last July.
I'm able to seek his counsel because we talk all the time. He did the job for a long time and has always been available.
Jassy said he enjoys a close relationship with Bezos and is able to bounce different things off of him.
He didn't give any details about what he talks about with Bezos.
Amazon's chief financial officer, Brian Olsavsky, said on a results call in February that Bezos would still be involved in major "one-way-door" decisions.
In a letter to employees, Bezos said he would stay engaged in important Amazon initiatives.
Blue Origin would be more of a focus for Bezos. He flew to the edge of space on a rocket.
It seems that Bezos doesn't want to distance himself from Amazon. Jassy said thatJeff is always going to be involved.
Despite a 29% decline in Amazon's share price this year, Bezos is still the second richest person in the world.
