Virgin Atlantic has celebrated the launch of its new direct route to Austin from Heathrow, which will become a daily service in April 2023.
The Texas city will be served four times a week by the carrier using the 787-9 plane.
The chief business and finance officer and the chief commercial officer were at the airport to greet guests who were on the first flight.
Austin is the first new US route the airline has launched from London since the beginning of the year, and was described as a "fantastic addition" by Virgin Atlantic president Sir Richard Branson.
He said it was an honor to be here to welcome Virgin Atlantic.

The connection between Austin and London will be strengthened. A lot of people in the UK are interested in visiting Austin.

The airline made its debut in Austin on May 25.

The route will increase to a daily service in the spring of 2023.
Premium at £817 and Upper Class at $2,014 are included in the return economy fares.
