Alexandre Lacazette: Arsenal forward re-signs for Lyon five years after leaving

Five years after leaving to join the north London club for a then club record 50 million dollars, Lacazette is back with Lyon.

Lacazette will return to the club for three years.

The France forward scored 54 times in 158 appearances for the English club and helped them win the FA Cup.

Speaking to Canal Plus in April, Lacazette said he had "never cut contact" with hometown club Lyon.

Lyon said they were very proud and very happy to announce Lacazette's return to the club he joined at the age of 12.

After breaking into the first team in the 2009-10 season, Lacazette went on to score 129 goals in 275 matches for the team.

He was signed by the club for up to £56m with add-ons, making him the most expensive player in the club's history.

In April, Mikel Arteta admitted that it was a risk to delay talks with the player about a new deal.

The agreement we made with him was the one we made. Arteta said that their position remained the same and that was their position.

Since the moment we made that decision, it is up to him.

Arteta stripped Pierre-Emerick of the captain's role in December after he was reprimanded for breaching the club's code of conduct.

In 2022-23, they will play in the group stage of the Europa League after finishing fifth in the premier league
