The Munsters' house, a la Rob Zombie.

The return of The Munsters has been Rob Zombie's passion and he confirms that his big-screen take on the classic TV series is a love letter to the original. I am not sure why a lot of people assumed he would make a controversial version of the monster family but the most shocking thing is that he is making it in color.

According to Zombie, if the film was not in color, we wouldn't be getting it. The colors were kind of hyper-real. He said that the actors looked like cartoon characters when they were in their makeup. They were so bright. I needed to light the movie in the same way. It felt like a live action cartoon at times.

In black-and-white first, before being switched to that lurid color, today's new tease shows Zombie's long-time co-conspirators as well as Grandpa.

The trio are introduced in a way that is basically a remake of the opening credits of The Munsters. It is in the spirit of the show, according to Zombie. I wanted it to be the same. The vibe that it had in the 60s was important to me.

I can't wait to see some different choices since I know Zombie's jazzed about honoring the intellectual property. He loves the property, but as a fan of his particular brand of Halloween-soaked spooky and humor, I can't wait to see more of that coming through. I can't wait to see her portrayal of Baby in House of 1000 Corpses in less sharper scenarios. At this point, just look at the man's social media, it's obvious that Zombie is going to pull a shocking turn in the Dragula towards hyper- violence. He is a big fan of his favorite characters and posts about it.

This fall, Rob Zombie will be releasing his new film, "Munsters".
