The princess has been caught. Our heroes have to save her from an Empire-run structure. Are we referring to Star Wars: A New Hope or Obi-Wan Kenobi? They are both episodes four and five. The fourth and latest episode of Disney+'s new Star Wars show was one of the cooler parts. We still have some mixed feelings, even though it borrows heavily from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Let's get started. Obi-Wan had been burned by Darth Vader, while Princess Leia had been captured by the Third Sister Inquisitor, Reva. The fact that Vader did to Obi-Wan what Obi-Wan did to him, left him to burn in flames, but Obi-Wan's scars are not a big deal. Kenobi is thrown in a bacta tank, but the tank mostly lets him think. When a person leaves the house without their wallet, they realize they're missing something, and he can't stop thinking about Darth Vader. Tala introduces him to a new character who is 888-609- 888-609- 888-609- 888-609- 888-609- Since the Inquisitors killed his Force sensitive wife, Roken wants to keep away from Ben. That sentiment lasts for two seconds, as Roken agrees to help. The Fortress Inquisitorius on Nur is where the most likely location is, as this group of would-be Rebels knows Vader is on his ship. Obi-Wan decided he had to go there. She says her status with the Empire will allow her to go as well. So it starts.
Reva is hard at work on the Fortress Inquisitorius. The young princess knows about the underground network where Jedi and other Force-sensitives are being smuggled and hidden and she wants it. Even though she knows Obi-Wan is dead, she won't budge from her position. She messes with Reva and fights her attempts to use the Force to suck the information out, both of which gain Reva's respect. Reva decided to get the information the old fashioned way: torture. A young child is about to be tortured by a movie.
The Fortress is beautiful when this is happening. I wanted her to stop walking through the hangar so I could see everything. The entire final level of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is here. Cal Kestis was supposed to come in with a quick hello when someone said they didn't know anything about the Fortress. Nothing.
Go back to the show. The Fortress needs to be entered by Obi-Wan. She encounters a lot of resistance from her Imperials. At every turn, officers have a hunch that Tala shouldn't be there. She has to kill one to keep her cover. It adds a nice extra level of suspense as Obi-Wan enters from under the water and sneaks through the hallways looking for his wife.
The tomb the Inquisitors keep in their Fortress is filled with Jedi and Force sensitive people. For Star Wars fans it is a shocking moment. Though you can correct us in the comments, the only recognizable person we saw was Jedi Master Tera Sinube, who was introduced in The Clone Wars. Everything we need to know about the Inquisitors is contained in a Youngling.
Talas Reva was asked to distract so that he could save Leia. The red-lit torture room was lit by a bright blue lightsaber. Reva realized that she was being lied to. I thought she was telling the truth when she said she was a triple agent. You could see why Reva thought she was telling the truth. It is very tense and nuanced in the way it should be. The alarms sound just as Reva is about to cause trouble. There are two people who have been found out.
Obi-Wan breaks out his lightsaber to slice up some Stormtroopers and Purge Troopers, then uses the Force to drown a bunch of people. The whole idea of the heroes having to fight their way out is pure A New Hope. The idea of a Jediinfiltrating the Fortress is very Fallen Order. A nice blend of the two schools. It is an important moment for Obi-Wan, who is still struggling with a return to his old self, slowly but surely stepping back into that noble role because he has to for the Rebellion.
The hangar bay is bustling with Imperial activity and has one more room for Obi-Wan and Leia to flee. The trio wore disguises but were good enough in the chaos to make it to the ship. She is going to make good on her promise to Lord Vader when a pair of ships arrive and start firing. It is a pair of T-47 airspeeders who blow away a bunch of troopers and cause enough of a distraction so one ship flown by one of the Jabiim Path networkers. The Fifth Brother shamed Reva into blowing up the other ship because he was angry at her. It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that Wade has passed away.
Darth Vader is not happy that Obi-Wan and his friends are safe. Reva is going to be killed by him when she mentions that she put a tracker on them. This makes the Sith Lord happy and he allows her to leave. At the end of the episode, we realize the tracker isn't on one of the ships, and that Leia's droid is beeping red when she holds Obi-Wan's hand. It will lead Vader and Reva to his daughter.
I have to tell you the truth. I don't like this episode of Obi-Wan. It was a great rescue mission with great action. The Fortress Inquisitorius was a great place to explore. The episode locks in the trust and bond between Obi-Wan and Leia in A New Hope, as well as other things. We have seen four episodes of Obi-Wan and two of them are about him saving the damsel in distress. Obviously, that is a high-stakes, dramatic situation, but I felt cheated out of a new story when we already saw it in the movies and games.
There are two episodes of Obi-Wan left and so many unanswered questions. The Grand Inquisitor isn't currently located. Is there a chance that Vader and Leia meet for the first time? Is Reva still alive? In a way that sends the Jedi back to Tatooine, where do things leave off between Obi-Wan and Vader? Soon, we'll find out.
