The grocery chain is no longer using Air Miles.

The Bank of Nova Scotia and Cineplex are partnering with Sobeys’ parent company Empire Co. Ltd. to co-own the Scene+ loyalty program.

Scene+, a loyalty program with 10 million users who earn and redeem points in banking, film entertainment, dining, travel, and shopping, will soon be adding groceries. The Scene+ program will be rolled out in Atlantic Canada in August. The roll-out is expected to be completed by early next year.

Empire is a co-owner of the Scene+ program, which will provide Scotia customers with even more ways to earn and redeem points on nearly all of their purchases.

One of the final building blocks of Empire's transformation strategy is theEvolving our loyalty offering.

The loyalty program was initially launched through Cineplex and Scotiabank as a way to earn and redeem points at Cineplex movie theaters and has since expanded to include other partners and brands. Scene+ was reborn in December of 2021.

Until stores in their region switch to Scene+, Empire customers will still be able to collect and redeem Airmiles.
