Gary Bowyer: Dundee appoint former Salford City boss as manager

Gary Bowyer can really drive the club forward according to Gordon Strachan.

The Englishman is the new manager at Dens Park.

After missing out on the League Two play-offs, the former manager was fired by the city.

Talks broke down last week, but they were in discussions with an ex-manager.

Billy Barr, who was Bowyer's assistant at Salford, will join Bowyer on the staff.

The former Scotland and Celtic manager believes that he can drive the club forward because he is someone who "ticks all the boxes".

Now is the time for everyone to come together and support the manager and the team.

The Dark Blues finished in the bottom half of the league.

They will play Hamilton Academical, Stranraer, Queen's Park and Forfar Athletic in the first round of the League Cup.

The first round of Championship games will be held on July 31st.
