The platform that allows players to create, share, and play games with friends is coming to Facebook gaming. A library of thousands of player-made games can be browsed or added to with their own creations on the collaborative game-building platform.

The element of game creation is shared by both Roblox and Crayta, with the most obvious being its bright and cartoonish artwork. It has a battle pass, rotating seasons, and the ability to personalize their ownavatar. One of the most unique things about Crayta is that it allows you to share a game with a single link, so your friend can play it right away.

Meta bought the developers behind Crayta last year

Unit 2, the UK-based studio behind Crayta, was acquired by Meta last year. Last year, the PC version of Crayta was added to the games store. If you want to play Crayta on Facebook, you won't have to pay for a subscription or download the game to your computer. Only an account will be required to start the free-to-play game.

A lot of people think of the metaverse as 3D experiences you can have in virtual and augmented reality, but I think it's possible to build and enjoy these kinds of experiences on all kinds of 2D environments, including just within the Facebook.

It is obvious that Meta wants to be at the center of the metaverse. Really bad. While the company already acquired the virtual reality company, and has since renamed its products under the Meta name, Crayta is still a significant investment meant to further establish Meta as a metaverse company. The companion app to Meta's virtual reality headset earned over 2 million downloads during the holiday season.
