The producer told io9 at a recent press event that there were a couple of things they wanted to convey with the trailer. There are two things that the movie is enjoyable. The film is large. The comic book version of Black Adam is honored when you see it. He doesn't engage in physical contact. He can serve as a judge, jury, and executioner. His approach to how he does things is very different from what a hero would do.
The Justice Society of America is involved in the film because of that. It is the type of thing that gets the entire planet to notice when Black Adam arrives. There are going to be people who are interested in that person. That type of energy brings these two together. They need to investigate because he is a threat and they are not used to having someone like that.
Despite the fact that Black Adam kills people, we don't learn much about the film's story. That was done on purpose, according to the man. He thought it was a tease. Some of his motivation is given a bit. What happened to him is what you hear. This is a little more of a tease. You will get more of the story as more comes out.
