After a year at NBC sports, Drew Brees is done.

The chairman of NBC Sports told The Associated Press that Drew Brees won't be a part of the network's coverage of Notre Dame and the National Football League.

The New York Post reported last month that the former quarterback wouldn't be coming back to NBC as a studio or game analyst, though he took to social media and said he hadn't decided his future.

He wants to spend more time with his family, according to conversations with the quarterback.

It was an "around-the-clock assignment" because of the "unbelievably busy NFL career and then really not taking a break at all and launching right in with us with both Notre Dame football and the NFL" It was definitely a lifestyle choice for him.

After a 20-year career in the National Football League, where he held the records for passing yards and touchdown, he signed a multiyear contract with NBC. He was an analyst for Notre Dame games with Mike Tirico and was in the studio most Sundays. The wild-card game was between the Las Vegas Raiders and CincinnatiBengals.

After Al Michaels moved to Amazon Prime Video for "Thursday Night Football", many thought that Brees would be the next analyst for "Sunday Night Football," but that was not the case.

Everyone has a learning curve in this role. He did a great job with Notre Dame. He was always curious about how things were done.

If another opportunity came along, NBC wouldn't stand in the way of it. Fox has an opening for an analyst, but it's likely that Drew will stay at home.

They are close to making a decision on who will call Notre Dame games and who will work in the studio.
