The Ukrainian army says it destroyed a group of Russian soldiers after a 14-hour battle.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the 80th assault brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces claimed to have stopped a Russian unit's attempt to cross a highway in eastern Ukraine. The town where the battle took place was not named by the Ukrainians as fighting continues in the area.
The enemy has not been defeated. Units of the 80th separate paratrooper brigade of the armed forces of Ukranian continue to fight Russians in the east.
The post said that the Ukrainians fought a 14-hour battle with the Russians. The Ukrainians claimed to have taken out a Russian vehicle and troops.
The post said that at one point during the conflict, the Ukrainians realized they were fighting with the Russian armed forces.
There was a video posted by the Ukrainian brigade that appeared to show military equipment on fire.
The Ukrainian brigade wrote that the war has been more about battles of large- caliber weaponry. The boys spotted the saboteurs and opened fire.
The Russians left in their path a trail of the bodies of their dead after they were defeated by the Ukrainians.
The post said that the 80th brigade's actions resulted in a mass strike on the enemy.
The Ukrainians claimed to have destroyed the entire Russian army in Izyum. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the leader of the Ukrainians, said that Russia had lost 200 aircraft in the war in the country.
Some 15,000 Russians are thought to have died in the invasion. The Ukrainian government claims it has killed 30,000 Russians.
The war began when Putin invaded the country on February 24.
