The new F-150 Lightning has a huge battery that can be used to charge other electric vehicles. A new accessory is being included by the company so that Good Samaritan truck owners can help strandedTeslas.

A member of an online forum for new F-150 Lightning owners shared a photo of a new accessory called a J1772 accessory from Lentz. The owner was surprised that the accessory wasn't included in the standard accessories for the new truck.

While most electric vehicles have a standard J1772 charging connection, there is a proprietary one found at the company's Supercharging network.

“We can help all those poor dead Teslas”

The owners of the F-150 Lightning were very happy about the idea of rescue. The original poster said they could help the dead. A member of the forum said they would put a bumper sticker on their vehicle.

Ford has been trumpeting the F-150's Pro Power generator feature since it was first introduced a year ago. Up to 2.4 kilowatts can be put out from a variety of outlets in the truck. The capability is increased to 9.6 kilowatts as an added option. The higher-output version has a 30-amp outlet in the bed that can be used for a variety of higher-draw needs.

The EV company was not mentioned by name in an email from a Ford spokesman. F-150 Lightning can charge other electric vehicles using its bi-directional charging capability and we are shipping our first Lightnings with adaptors so F-150 Lightning customers can lend a hand.
