Fred Williams, an assistant to Fisher, was named as his replacement.

Fisher, who won five titles with the Lakers and was a coach for the Knicks, took over as head coach in Los Angeles in 2019. He ended his career with a losing record.

"On behalf of our ownership group, I would like to thank him for his efforts and contributions to the team," Eric Holoman said. We wish him good luck. Fred Williams will bring a wealth of experience to the role of interim head coach.

They missed the playoffs for the first time in four years last season, and were hoping to rebound. Despite bringing in four-time All-Star Liz Cambage and the 2020 No. 4 overall draft pick Chennedy Carter in the off-season, the Los Angeles Sparks are just 4-7 and in eighth place in the league.

Fisher thanked the LA Sparks organization, ownership, staff, players, and fans for the opportunity they have given him over the last four years. I am proud of what we have accomplished because of the support I have received.

In Fisher's three seasons in Los Angeles, the three-time champion Sparks won one playoff game.
