It has been 25 years since Agent K recruited wide-eyed agent J into a top- secret government agency. Men in Black will get a brief theatrical return in a new 4K version.
You know what that means,Vincent D'Onofrio's performance as a buggy alien will be better and clearer to see than before, as will all the wacky gadgets and other elements that helped kick off one of cinema's most beloved sci-fi franchises. The interview with Sonnenfeld, who began his career lensing films for the Coen Brothers, will be included in this limited theatrical release. Ed Solomon wrote the script for Men in Black, which was a blend of action, comedy, and ooky creatures. The second and third Men in Black films won't be getting their own special anniversary screenings when the time comes... though Men in Black II does have its moments.
Men in Black has a timeless quality that makes it a natural for this kind of celebration, despite the recent scandal surrounding one of its marquee stars. It has a supporting cast that includes Tony Shalhoub as a mostly helpful alien shopkeeper, Rip Torn as the head of MIB, and a pack of surprisingly charismatic alien worms.
