On Monday, Apple unveiled a new generation of its CarPlay software that aims to completely replace your car's clunky interface with an Apple operating system.

The new software release gives us our best look yet at what Apple's electric car could look like. There are images of cars that will surround drivers in familiar Apple tech.

Drivers will be able to use their favorite apps on a bigger, more convenient display with the help of CarPlay. The next iteration of CarPlay will replace a vehicle's built-in interface with its own, taking control of essential vehicle functions like the radio, air conditioning, and heated seats.

In the future, drivers won't need to touch their car's software, which can be difficult to understand. Everything they do and see in their vehicle will run through Apple's operating system.

In cars that have a screen in front of the driver, the speedometer and fuel gauge will be integrated. Drivers will be able to choose from a variety of styles and colors. Usefulwidgets showing things like real-time weather and calendar events can be displayed on vehicle screens.

The kind of user experience Apple is planning for its future electric car could be glimpsed by the new all-inclusive CarPlay system. Apple has been tight-lipped about the project, but reports over the years suggest that the tech giant is working on an autonomously driving vehicle and is looking to collaborate with an existing manufacturer to build it

According to a report in November, Apple wants the car to integrate with its existing devices and is exploring designs with an iPad-like touchscreen in the center of the vehicle.

According to Apple, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan,Porsche, Ford, Audi, and Honda will be the first to use the new CarPlay in their cars. The vehicles will be announced later in the year.
