New York City Mayor Eric Adams' approval rating falls to 29%, with a majority of residents saying the city is headed in the wrong direction

A Siena College poll shows that only 29% of respondents approve of the job done by New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

More than 75% of residents are concerned that they could be the victim of a violent crime, according to the poll.

If New Yorkers had a honeymoon with the mayor, it was brief. Don Levy, director of the Siena College Research Institute, said in a statement that only 29% of people think the mayor is doing a good job. "About 40% of adults over 65 and Black New Yorkers view him positively, but his positive rating does not exceed 33% with respondents based on party, gender, political ideology, or boroughs"

The poll lumped together people who said Adams was doing a good job with people who said he was doing a poor job.

The city is going in the wrong direction, according to more than half of respondents. Only 32% of people think it's on the correct path.

Shortly after Adams took office, a Siena poll found his approval to be at just over sixty percent.

The latest version was in the field from May 22 to June 1 and consisted of phone calls to both landlines and cellphones with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
