Tiger Woods will not play in the US Open, but he will play in the 150th Open Championship at St Andrew's.

The golfer withdrew from the US PGA Championship after three rounds.

Woods told the USGA that he wouldn't be competing in the US Open as he needed more time to get stronger.

On 16 June, the event starts.

Woods said he hopes to play in Ireland at the JP McManus Pro-Am and at The Open next month. I'm looking forward to getting back out there.

Phil Mickelson was added to the field for the first event in the Greg Norman-backed LIV Golf Invitational Series, which starts on Thursday.

Norman told the Washington Post that Woods had been offered a "mind-blowingly enormous" deal to participate in the series.

There's more to come.
