One of the members of the House committee that is investigating the January 6, 2021, Capitol Riot said there is more to the story than just "insulting."
The evidence against Trump was more serious than was previously known, according to a congressman.
In his second impeachment, he was accused of inciting insurrection, but he was not charged with more serious charges.
"We're going to lay out the evidence about all of the actors who were pivotal to what took place on January 6," he said.
The hearing this week will tell the story of a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 presidential election and block the transfer of power, according to the Post.
"I think that Donald Trump and the White House were at the center of these events," he said.
He said that the only way to make sense of them all was through that method.
People will have to make their own decisions about the relative role that different people played.
The Senate failed to reach the two-thirds majority needed to convict Trump on charges of inciting racial hatred. The president was found guilty enough for an absolute majority but not enough for a conviction under the rules of impeachment.
The trial focused on an inflammatory speech Trump delivered to supporters before they marched on the Capitol and temporarily halted the ceremony certifying Joe Biden's victory, as well as the false claim that the 2020 election was stolen by fraud.
According to statements by members, the committee's activities have gone beyond this, and the hearings are likely to argue that Trump is to blame.
A spokesman for Trump was contacted.
