A new age-processed photo of a young boy who went missing over a decade ago from a school science fair has been released by the Oregon police.

The photo was released by the sheriff's office to mark the one year anniversary of Horman's disappearance.

Horman was last seen at a science fair in Portland, Oregon.

The FBI searched for him for years after the case sparked the largest criminal investigation in Oregon's history. He hasn't been seen in over a decade.

The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children produced a photograph of the boy at 19 years old.

Kyron's disappearance has had a profound impact on our community. Twelve years ago we did the same thing.

In collaboration with our Major Crimes Team partners, the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office and the FBI, we are pursuing all investigative leads. The case is still active.

The police say he and his family are being searched for their genetic material. The boy's dental records have been uploaded to the national missing and unidentified persons system.

At the time of his disappearance, he wore a black shirt with a hand-print graphic and green letters on it. He had brown hair and blue eyes, with a strawberry-colored birthmark on his forehead, according to his description.

The police looked into the case but no charges were filed due to a lack of leads. The mother of the boy held a press conference on Saturday to try and keep the case going.

Ms Horman was referred to as a "prime suspect" in the case. Since moving to California she has denied any wrongdoing.

Anyone with information about Kyle's disappearance is urged to contact the sheriff's office or the NCMEC.

Someone can get a $50,000 reward for information that leads to the boy's location.
