Apple briefly mentioned a new addition to its security tools that will apply to iPhone, iPad, and Mac platforms. It wasn't clear what Rapid Security Response was, but Apple is promising to have important security updates that get to your devices even faster. It can take a long time for users to download and install a full system patch for Apple's mobile operating systems.

Important security improvements can be applied automatically between standard software updates according to Apple. New security configuration and system data files can be applied under the Automatic Updating section of settings if you have installed the developer version of the OS X. Some updates may only take effect once you restart your phone, which may mean that some won't need a restart.

The Rapid Security Response is included in the breakdown of the new features coming in version 13.0 on the platform. Between regular updates, these improvements can be applied automatically. We should know more about how the new software works after Apple gives us more info.
