The air beats pro.
The new MacBook Air is the better laptop. It picks up some of the design changes introduced with the pricier MacBook Pro models from 2021, including thinner borders around the screen and a notch for the webcams, making for a slightly larger 13.6-inch display as opposed to the new MacBook Pro's 13.3-inch screen.
The Air is lighter than its predecessor. The MacBook Air is one of Apple's lightest laptops yet, weighing in at just over two pounds and 0.44 inches thick. The Pro is heavier at 3 pounds and thinner at 0.61 inches.
The new MacBook Air can take advantage of an upgraded1080pWebcam for better quality during video calls, while the new MacBook Pro is stuck with the same old 720p camera. The microphones on the MacBook Pro are studio-quality, but Apple says the mics on the Air are less-standard mics.
Both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro have the same screen resolution, but the MacBook Air has a slightly brighter screen than the MacBook Pro. The only Mac that has the Touch Bar display above the Magic Keyboard is the MacBook Pro. Both the MacBook Air and MacBook Pros have Touch ID baked in. There is no Face ID on a Macintosh.
