At its keynote at the World Wide Developers Conference, Apple announced that it will be releasing a new version of its mobile operating system later this year. Gurman had teased a "fairly significant" upgrade to the mobile software, and it appears he was correct.

New lock screen looks

The lock screen on your phone is the first thing you notice when you switch it on. The new lock screen allows you to pick from a variety of colors and styles. You can create a subtle depth effect for portrait shots with a custom wallpaper. The result is that the rest of the phone's interface meshes nicely with the design of the device. The sample photos look similar to what we thought Material You would be.

You can change your lock screen based on your focus if you lead a busy life with your phone. If you are at work, you can use the tasks-themed lock screen to match the mood with the help ofWidgets and wallpaper. The lock screens on your phone can be swapped out when you head home, so you don't have to worry about it anymore.

When you follow along with a live event, you can often feel overwhelmed by the notifications on your phone. If the app developer uses the Live ActivitiesAPI, they will be able to consolidate notifications for events like live sports and breaking news so that they're not overwhelming you every time you look at your phone. Focus mode can be used to block out notifications from apps that shouldn't be bothering you while you're on the phone.

Edit your Messages

One of the advantages of messaging within a walled garden is that you can change your message at will. The ability to change a message after you send it is one of the new features in the new Apple Messages. If you peep at certain threads when you have a chance, you can mark them as unread.

Share the wealth

There's more good news if you use Apple Messages. You will be able to listen to music in tandem with a friend or family member when SharePlay comes to Messages.

The new experience includes family sharing. Parents can set up an account for a child with parental controls that will restrict certain apps, movies, books, and music from being accessed by your child. You can approve more screen time for your child if they read and type.

The shared photo library can be enabled for large families and friendpods. A separate library for up to six people will be created. Every person in the shared photo library will be able to add, remove, edit, and favorite photos and videos, which will appear in the memories and featured photos section. If this sounds like a feature you are using on the internet, that is because it is. You don't have to use a Google account to do this.

Screw it; we’re doing it Live Text

Live Text is now able to work with video. The video can be paused and you can interact with it. If you need to translate text from another language, it will be helpful if you watch a video with it. It can be used to convert currency and search the internet.

A new look for Matter

HomeKit and the Home app will be made to look nice and run smoothly when Matter arrives. You will be able to use your phone as a hub when it is live, thanks to the Matter standard. When the standard goes live this fall or winter, we will have a better idea of how that works.

CarPlay gets a new look, too

At this year's World Wide Developers Conference, Apple announced that it is getting even more deeply integrated into the automobile.

It will be possible to display content across multiple screens, and you will see panels that are similar to those on the Home screen. The radio, climate control, and car stat integrations will be further integrated by Apple. The company said in its official press release that compatible vehicles will be announced late next year.

More to come

Software is going to carry Apple this year, even though the company is known for its hardware. The way Apple keeps things simple and easy to understand is what attracts users to its hardware. The foundations laid down in iOS 15 seem to be the focus of the 16th edition of the operating system.
