Milo Yiannopoulos, a "alt-right" activist, has been hired as an intern by a Republican lawmaker.

"Mummy said I would end up in government!" He wrote on his Telegram account.

The hire was confirmed in a statement that made a transphobic remark about the Rep. Marie Newman.

"So I have an intern that was raped by a priest as a young teen, was gay, has offended everyone at some point, turned his life back to Jesus and Church, and changed his life," she stated. The story is great.

I've been persuaded to come back to work. Yiannopoulos said on Telegram that the best role he could get was an internship with a friend. Please pray for me.

The hiring marks a career change for the one-time online provocateur who saw his following crater after controversial comments about sexual relationships between younger and older men surfaced.

The gay world has some of the most important, enriching and incredibly life-affirming relationships between younger boys and older men. They can be positive.

Yiannopoulos was disinvited from the Conservative Political Action Conference for "condoning pedophilia" because of the comments he made.

After losing a book deal, he resigned from the website. He was hired by Steve Bannon at the time.

Yiannopoulos called himself "ex-gay" and claimed last year to be building a conversion therapy clinic in Florida.

Yiannopoulos said that he treated it like an addiction. You don't stop being an alcoholic.

He said his spouse had been demoted to housemate.

Both Islam and feminism have been described as "cancers" by Yiannopoulos.

He joined the Church Militant as a regular contributor last year and was described on his biography page as a "reformed sodomite."

It's not clear when Yiannopoulos was hired as an intern for the far-right congresswoman, though he was present at her April 28 press conference in which she discussed Musk's purchase of Twitter, a bill to reform Section 230, and called for her account to be restored.

His internship will last until August 5, according to the staff ID on his Telegram.
