Do Deebo and Jimmy G still have a future with the 49ers? (1:27)

Deebo Samuel's and Jimmy Garoppolo's futures are expected to be decided by the 49ers. There is a time and a place for it.

As the San Francisco 49ers await a clean bill of health on quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, they have excused him from this week's mandatory minicamp, according to a league source.

It's no surprise that Garoppolo won't be participating in this week's minicamp as he hasn't participated in the team's conditioning program. Garoppolo has been excused by the league.

The team's attempts to trade Garoppolo have been delayed because of his shoulder surgery. Garoppolo has spent most of his time in Southern California since he was released by the 49ers.

The hope for both sides is that once Garoppolo is cleared to throw again, a trade will take shape.

"After the surgery, everything went on hold, we knew where we were before that, and then he got the surgery, so everything is still the same," Kyle said. He's most likely to be traded, but I don't know. When that happened, it was on hold and it wasn't a guarantee. We will see when he is healthy.

All players are required to attend the full-squad mini camp in order to participate in the summer program. If you don't attend without being excused, you'll be fined.

The final season of Garoppolo's contract will count against the salary cap, meaning he will have to pay more. Lance has been the team's No. 2 quarterback behind Sudfeld in the team's Organized Team Activities.

The 49ers decided last week to move up their mini camp from June 13-15 to June 21-22. They are going to practice Tuesday through Thursday.
