Crennel, who has been a coach for 50 years, retired on Monday.
Crennel was the head coach of the Cleveland Browns and the Kansas City Chiefs in the National Football League. He was the interim head coach of the Texans in 2020.
Crennel was the oldest person to serve as a head coach in a game in the history of the National Football League. Crennel was a head coach for 32 years.
Crennel said that football has been a dream of his for 50 years and that he will miss being around the players. I wanted to put every player and coach in the best position to succeed and I consider every guy I coached or worked with a part of my family.
J.J. Watt, who played seven seasons for Crennel in Houston, expressed his admiration for the coach.
Absolute legend of the game and even better man. https://t.co/eaHtpAmFTE

The last eight years of Crennel's football career were with the Texans. The senior adviser for football performance was Crennel.
Crennel received the 2020 Paul "Dr. Z" Award for lifetime achievement as an assistant coach.
"My family and the entire Houston Texans organization would like to send their best wishes to Romeo Crennel on his historic coaching career," said Texans chair and CEO Cal McNair. One of the most respected figures in the history of the National Football League retires after 50 years. His resume and contributions to football will be hard to duplicate.
The organization is better because of Crennel. He will always be a Texan and we wish him and his family the best in retirement.
