A man has been charged in the shooting of a US marshal and his police dog.

The Chicago Police Department said that Tarrion Johnson has been charged with attempted murder, attempted robbery with a firearm, and other crimes.

The department said that Johnson was going to be in court Saturday. It was unclear if he had an attorney who could speak for him.

According to police, Johnson was arrested Thursday after he shot an officer with the U.S. marshals service. Chicago police did not announce the charges against Johnson on Saturday, despite the fact that two people were arrested.

The officer who returned fire did not hit anyone, according to police.

The dog was rushed to a vet by the federal marshal after the shooting.

An ambulance was called after the marshal realized he had been shot in the hand, but he didn't want to go to the hospital.

A police dog is in the intensive care unit of a veterinary hospital, according to the U.S. marshals service.
